Buddhism in Burma extends more than two thousand years to the Buddha’s Time.

Bhutan

In the eight century CE, Guru Rinpoche (Padmasambhava, or the second Buddha) made his legendary trip from eastern Bhutan to western Bhutan on the back of a flying tigress to subdue the evil spirits who hindered Buddhism. After defeating them, he blessed them as guardians of the doctrine, thus introducing Tantric Buddhism to Bhutan.

Nepal

Buddhism is a world religion founded by Buddha (Gautama Siddhārtha). The dharma taught by Buddha, born about 2,600 years ago in what is now Nepal, has been organized into various sutras and propagated to the rest of Asia. Nepal has a rich Buddhist culture and temples which were nurtured over a long time, centering on Kathmandu.

Mongolia

Mongolian Buddhism is a unique blend of various local traditions that were incorporated during its long history. The Buddhist tradition is traced back to the sixth century BC, when the Buddha, Gautama Siddhartha achieved a state of sublime wisdom and compassion, described as Enlightenment, and began to teach.

Tibet

Buddha Shakyamuni prophesied that his manifestation “Guru Rinpoche” would turn the Wheel of Vajrayana Dharma and would open a new era that would benefit all beings. In 770 AD, at the request of the King of Tibet Trisong Deutsen, the great tantric mystic Padmasambhava (Guru Rinpoche) brought the Vajrayana teachings from India to Tibet.

India

The Hinman Foundation works with its longtime partner, the Padmasambhava Buddhist Center, a Buddhist meditation and study center in the Tibetan Nyingma Tradition, to support the restoration of historic sites in India that are central to the history of Buddhism.
